## Aggies from Around the World

Texas A&M University is home to international students from 130+ different countries making up more than 12% of our student body. On a campus of 70,000+, that number adds up. Our International Aggies contribute to Texas A&M’s environment of diverse thinking and inclusive action.\
We offer three types of enrollment to international prospective students:

## International Freshman

You are an [international freshman](https://admissions.tamu.edu/apply/international/international-freshman) if you:

- are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States\
  OR
- are not graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas (please review [Senate Bill 1528](https://aggie.tamu.edu/getmedia/34a45821-d5b4-410e-9a5c-ab1485690084/Residency-Affidavit.pdf))\
  AND
- are a student without college credit\
  OR
- earned college credit prior to high school graduation (dual credit/early college high school)

## International Transfer

An [international transfer](https://admissions.tamu.edu/apply/international/international-transfer) applicant:

- is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (or applicant for permanent residency) AND
- has not graduated from a Texas high school after three years of residence in Texas. (If this applies to you, please apply as a U.S. transfer applicant based on [Senate Bill 1528](https://aggie.tamu.edu/getmedia/34a45821-d5b4-410e-9a5c-ab1485690084/Residency-Affidavit.pdf).)
- is an applicant seeking the attainment of a bachelor’s degree
- has graduated from high-school or equivalent
- has enrolled in a post-secondary institution, and has earned college credit after high school/secondary school graduation (during fall/spring semesters) and
- is not eligible for [readmission](https://admissions.tamu.edu/apply/readmit) (has never enrolled at Texas A&M University as an undergraduate degree-seeking student).

You are an [international graduate](https://admissions.tamu.edu/apply/international/international-graduate) applicant if you:

- are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States (or applicant for permanent residency) AND
- you have not graduated from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas (please review [Senate Bill 1528](https://aggie.tamu.edu/getmedia/34a45821-d5b4-410e-9a5c-ab1485690084/Residency-Affidavit.pdf)) AND
- hold a bachelor’s or professional degree (or equivalent)\

Note: If you are currently enrolled as a degree-seeking graduate student or the break of enrollment between the two graduate programs at Texas A&M University will be less than a calendar year, you should submit a Letter of Intent or Petition to the [Graduate and Professional School](https://grad.tamu.edu/knowledge-center/forms/letter-of-intent).

[International Student & Scholar Services](https://global.tamu.edu/isss) handles the logistics of attending a university across the world so that you can focus on your education and college experience. You’ll find academic resources and information on health insurance, staying connected and more.\
\
International Student & Scholar Services issues a Certificate of Eligibility, I–20s for F–1 visa holders and DS-2019s for J-1 visa holders. ISSS also provides information for international students about which immigration status is the most appropriate for them while attending Texas A&M.\

## [Where can I register for my classes?](#a-wherecaniregisterformyclasses-FZBlbU)

New undergraduate students will register for their first semester classes at their New Student Conference.

International Graduate Students should meet with their graduate advisor for assistance in registering for classes.

[Insurance](https://iss.tamu.edu/Health-Insurance) is required for students on F-1 or J-1 visas.

## [Are there any international clubs and organizations I can join?](#a-arethereanyinternationalclubsandorganizationsicanjoin-_DHqDd)

There are many clubs and organizations approved by the university. It depends upon the visa criteria. It is very important to verify your eligibility by checking the on-campus employment criteria provided at [Employment & Internships - Global Engagement](https://global.tamu.edu/isss/students/employment).
