## Research priorities – SDG 8 Hub

There are five research themes driving our academic leadership. Each theme has an appointed lead with a team around them to deliver impactful outcomes.

### Theme One: Sustainable and shared economic growth

Includes economic and financial stability, innovation and entrepreneurship, economic diversification, value-added production, and firm and labour productivity in relation to decent work. Also includes circular and regenerative economies, indigenous approaches to understanding the economy, and social dimensions of shared economic growth.

Includes the creation of high-quality jobs, full and productive employment strategies, employee well-being, responsible leadership, youth (un)employment and inclusion.

### Theme Three: Labour rights in the global supply chain

Includes eradication of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour; transnational governance, supply chain due diligence, sustainable procurement, ethical leadership, indigenous sovereignty, global labour standards, occupational health and safety.

### Theme Four: Decent work and climate transitions

Includes investment in green technologies for improving ecological, social and economic outcomes, indigenous knowledges and frameworks, multi-stakeholder initiatives and partnerships for a ‘just’ transition to ‘green’ economies, decoupling economic growth from ecological degradation, sustainable tourism and consumption.

### Theme Five: Decent work and digital transformations

Includes the adoption of new technologies and impact on labour markets, labour regulations, quality of work, and skill development. Algorithmic management, platform and ‘gig’ work, and new forms of precarious digital labour.
