# Uploading Documents Through Banner Self-Service

Helpful hints for uploading documents

To navigate through Banner Self-Service, continuing students please Enter Secure Area using URL:  [https://selfservice.brown.edu](https://selfservice.brown.edu/ss/twbkwbis.P_GenMenu?name=homepage "SSB") with your username and password.

**Newly admitted students** may access Banner Self-Service through their Brown Applicant Portal by selecting the Financial Aid Status link.

## Helpful hints for uploading documents

- Fill out forms, **save on personal computer as pdf**; then upload saved form via Banner Self-Service.
- **Do not include extra periods in the file name**; myFile.pdf, for example.
- **Scan in black and white (on some scanners this is monochrome)** at a low resolution (200-300 dpi).
- **Select "Other"**if you are not sure of the correct label to assign to your document.
- Upload **one** file at time.
