On 17 February, scientists from the D-BSSE, the Biozentrum and the Pharmazentrum of the University of Basel were gathering for the Symposium “Science Next Door” to foster interdisciplinary connections between life-science institutions on Campus Schällemätteli.

Over 100 PhD students, PostDocs, scientific-technical staff, and Principal Investigators attended, reflecting the vibrant and diverse research community across these departments.\ \ The Symposium featured two poster sessions, which allowed attendees to engage in discussions and network across disciplines. A great platform for discussions also was the ‘Where are you from?’ map near the entrance, illustrating the representation of the scientific community on the campus from every continent except Antarctica.

Science Next Door

Big thanks to all the participants in the event, and the organisers from the Biozentrum Postdoc Society (BPS), the PhD Students Biozentrum, the Scientific Staff Association of D-BSSE (VMB) and the PhD Students Pharmaceutical Sciences.
