Most innovations fail — not because the technology is weak, but because firms don't understand markets: the complex web of customers, suppliers, partners, and competitors that determine success. The Collaborative Innovation and Marketing track teaches you to navigate this complexity and avoid the graveyard of good ideas that never found customers. You will master the critical space where engineering meets market reality: translating technological capabilities into viable business solutions and integrating customer needs, market dynamics, and ecosystem collaboration into one coherent innovation strategy.

When to choose the track Collaborative Innovation & Marketing?

You will master the analytical tools and strategic frameworks needed to bridge the gap between technological innovation and market success. More specifically, after completing this track you will understand how to:

In short: you will learn how firms compete and win in complex, interconnected markets where success depends on coordinating and collaborating with customers, partners, suppliers, and broader market forces.

What sets this track apart

This track uniquely bridges the disciplines of technology management, marketing, and strategic analysis. It emphasizes evidence-based decision-making, helping students develop the analytical, conceptual, and quantitative skills needed to evaluate markets and design successful innovation strategies. This focus on the strategic interface between technology development and market adoption is distinctive among Dutch master’s programs in innovation management.

When to choose the Collaborative Innovation and Marketing track

Is this track for you? You’re welcome here—and you will especially thrive if you:

You will learn alongside peers from diverse backgrounds. Some come from business fields like marketing, organization science, or information science and want to deepen their understanding of how markets shape innovation success. Others are engineers from disciplines like mechanical engineering, automotive, or electrical engineering who want to complement their technical expertise with market strategy. Still others have a background in a multidisciplinary domain (industrial engineering, industrial design) and want to further specialize in creating customer value with and for markets. This mix creates richer discussions and mirrors the cross-functional teams you'll join after graduation. Curious about job prospects? We thought you might be—check the 'After Graduation' section.
